Mr. Alexander is a highly accomplished and experienced Operations Executive specialized in hospital administration and healthcare operations in both not-for-profit as well as for-profit environments.

Michael has over 30 years’ experience within the healthcare industry. Prior to his role as CEO of Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Mr. Alexander spent nearly 10 years as Hospital Administrator with Tanner Health Systems in Georgia, where he managed overall operations of two hospitals, a 25-bed joint commission-accredited Critical Access Hospital with over $98 million in revenue and over 22,000 ED visits per year, and a 40 bed facility in neighboring Alabama where he was able to turn around the operations of a struggling facility and lead the successful effort to build a new replacement hospital for the community. He also spent almost 10 years at Candler (Candler) County Hospital, Georgia where he was responsible for managing the overall day-to-day operations, performance, quality, and leadership of the facility.

Michael has also managed the operations of a physician staffing company as well as other hospitals. He has a proven record of success in cost control, performance improvement, government and community relations, facility design and construction and staff/budget management. Mr. Alexander has a B.S. in Psychology from Troy University, Troy, Alabama, and an M.S. in Community Counseling from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia.

Amy Cooper is the Regional Controller for both Jamestown Regional Medical Centre and Big South Fork Medical Center.

She oversees all aspects of the Accounting Departments in each facility, completing all local regulatory finance filings and managing the Medicare Cost Reports for both facilities. Amy has worked for Jamestown Regional Medical Centre for over fifteen years, gaining experience in all areas of the Accounting Department and throughout the organization. Amy graduated from Roane State Community College, Tennessee in May 2002 with a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Accounting.

Hal Leftwich is the CEO of Big South Fork Medical Center. Dr. Hal Leftwich provides team building, operational and financial improvement, and strategic insights to organizations, with a focus on rural providers and network development. He holds an earned Doctor of Business Administration, Master of Hospital and Health Administration, and other degrees, and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Over 30 years of varied experience in leadership, planning, emergency response, organizational turnaround, and other areas help him effectively guide teams to develop effective innovative and collaborative solutions.

Sharlyn Hjelmstad is the Chief Nursing Officer at Big South Fork Medical Center and oversees all clinical functions of the hospital. Sharlyn has worked in the hospital industry for over 20 years, starting as a CNA and then progressing through LPN, RN and MSN positions working in medical/surgical units and a trauma designated emergency room.  She has extensive experience in patient flow, post-acute care transition process, operational workflow and staff building and has proven success in reducing staff turnover and improving staff retention through trust, integrity and teambuilding.

At Big South Fork Medical Center, Sharlyn is currently responsible for planning, directing, controlling and evaluating the functions and personnel of all nursing units to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. Prior to joining the Big South Fork Medical Center team, Sharlyn worked as a Regional Director of Case Management where she specialized in patient flow through the hospital and progression of plan of care. 

Sharlyn has a Master’s degree in Nursing Leadership and Management from Walden University. Sharlyn also has many years of experience in home healthcare, skilled facility care and served as a volunteer EMT in a rural community for four years. She is dual certified in case management with CCM (Certified Case Manager) and ACM-RM (Accredited Case Manager – Registered Nurse) which focuses on acute care and patient care transition.

Dr. Cooper serves CarePlus as their Supervising Director. Dr. Cooper brings years of experience and expertise to the staff of Careplus Medical. Dr. Cooper teaches Emergency Medicine at the University of the Cumberlands and is very active in Community Services through his church. He is a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. We are blessed to have Dr. Cooper as a part of our Careplus and Jellico Medical Center team.

Paul Henson has worked as a Physician Assistant providing care to patients all across the Tri-state area for the past 38 years, with his primary practice in the later years being centralized in the Williamsburg Kentucky area. Paul is a United States Veteran, a Husband, Father and Grandfather. In his time off he enjoys hunting, yard work and popsicles. He is very devoted to his family, work family and his country. Paul loves working with pediatric patients as well as all aspects of family medicine.

Sheila Lambdin, APRN has worked in the medical field for 29 years, with the last 15 years serving as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She is well known around Williamsburg as she has played a very active role in the community for many years. Sheila is a devoted Wife and Mother. She is very active in her church in the music ministry and spends endless hours working on her family’s farm and with their animals. She enjoys gardening, sewing, hiking and kayaking. Sheila is very passionate about Women's Health as well as all aspects of family medicine.

Michele has worked with Jellico Medical Center for the past 20 years. She loves being able to provide help when it's needed, not only to the staff but to all who enter the doors at CarePlus. She enjoys spending time in the mountains with her Husband, is a proud mother of three and has four grandchildren. In her time off she is passionate about writing, gardening and spending time with all of her family and friends. It is her heart’s desire to serve others and to make a difference.
